Gary Varvel is a Christian, conservative and national-award-winning cartoonist for Creators Syndicate. For 24 years he was the editorial cartoonist for The Indianapolis Star. In 2015 Varvel was inducted into Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame. He has won the National Headliners Award for editorial cartooning, Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award for Cartooning, National Cartoonists Society Reuben Award for Best Editorial Cartoonist Division, Grambs Aronson Award for Cartooning with a Conscience, and dozens of first place awards in the Indiana Society of Professional Journalists' Award for Best Editorial Cartoon and the Hoosier State Press Association Contest
